After iPhone 7 launch, Apple slashes iPhone 6S and 6S Plus price by Rs 22,000

In a major development ahead of the festival season in India, smartphone giant Apple has effected a massive price cut in the prices of iPhone 6S and 6S Plus by up to Rs 22,000. The development comes just days after the Cupertino-based tech giant launched the much-anticipated iPhone 7 at its annual event.

After the reported price cut, the iPhone 6S Plus (128GB) which was priced for Rs 92,000, will now be available for Rs 70,000.

Similarly, the iPhone 6S (128GB), which carried an MRP of Rs 82,000 so far, will be sold for Rs 60,000.

Apple also slashed the price of its 4-inch iPhone SE 64GB, which was launched earlier this year. The phone was launched at Rs 49,000 and now it will be available for Rs 44,000.

The price cut assumes significance in view of the approaching festive season which the company eyes to encash.

The company has already said that it will officially launch its latest iPhones -- iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus -- in India on October 7.

Recently, Apple's iPhone 6s was rated as the world's top-selling smartphone model in the second quarter of 2016. The US giant currently accounts for two of the three top-selling devices shipped worldwide.

Apple had launched iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in India in October last year. Both the iPhones come with 3D Touch and 2GB RAM and sport 12-megapixel iSight camera, capable of shooting 4K videos.
